Bess or Betsy?
As a nickname for Elisabeth? I've always been more partial to Bess but Betsy has been really growing on me lately. Which do you prefer and why?

I prefer Betsy but I'm biased.

Both are nice, but I think I slightly prefer Bess. It's just so sweet and simple.

BessI dearly love both, but Bess is my favorite. Betsy is all pig-tailed, freckle-faced cuteness, but Bess feels like a nn that can be worn for a lifetime.

I love Betsy; it's so sweet and spunky! I've never really liked Bess and I don't really know why.I think part of the reason I like Betsy so much is because of Betsy Ray in the Betsy-Tacy book series.

Oooo, Bess, Bess, 1000 times Bess!

They're both OK and I like both of these about the same, but I really love Bessie. It's way better than either of these.

I prefer Bess, though I also love Betsy.

I prefer Betsy... Bess is too close to a barnyard animal name to me.

I think Bess and Bessie are both lovely. I also like Tess (although not as a nickname for Elizabeth obviously!)Betsy is OK, but I find it more old fashioned than Bess, and also I don't think it'll age as well.

Bess is adorable but I LOVE Betsy...it's sweet and saucy all rolled into one!

Bess.Betsy is okay, but it's a bit too sugary for me.

Neither? I really dislike all the Betty, Bette, Betsy, Bess nicknames for Elizabeth. I much prefer it in its full form. If I had to: Bess.

BessIt's probably my third-favourite Elizabeth nn. I think it would sound really fresh on a baby today. Betsy... meh. It does nothing for me, sorry.

Betsy has a lively, cheerful air about it which the more ponderous Bess lacks, and it's my choice for sure. That said, my lively, cheerful mother was nicknamed Bess by one of her friends. It never caught on, but she didn't mind at all. And I was at school with a grim Betsy who had a towering ego for no good reason, so nothing proves anything.

Bess, definitely! Betsy sounds way too cutesy. Bess is lovely and classic.

I like Bess, but I actually rather Betty, which was my grandmothers nickname for Elizabeth.

Bess! Betsy sounds a bit too dowdy, but I think Bess has been out long enough for it to be very fresh.

They each have a different feel to them. Bess is more demure while Betsy is a free spirit. She's more outgoing. Based on sound, I'd have to go with Bess although I do love Betsy too.

Definitely Bess. It's sweet without being too childish. Betsy, while refreshing, is too cutesy for me.

Ooo I love Betsy! I like Bess too but comparatively I think Betsy is much spunkier... a bit of a rebelI guess I feel exactly opposite of sambchop, lol. Bess strikes me as older, softer and more demure while Betsy is loud, fun and unapologetic. Designer Betsy Johnson probably has something to do with this image, not to mention I went to school with a couple Betsys - one of which was a soft ball girl with a great sense of humour, the other was more of a "goth" alternative girl who spoke her mind

I prefer Bess. I've always thought it was rather spunky, yet incredibly darling at the same time. It's sort of the epitome of short and sweet. It's brisk and breezy! There's nothing wrong with Betsy. I like that name too, but Bess just feels a little more energetic and lively.
