I love Irving! I also like Ichabod, which Irving reminds me of. :D

I think it should be left in the surname spot unless it's put in a mn spot as an honouring name for family w/ that surname.

I should think of Washington Irving and Sleepy Hollow. But the first thing that always leaps to mind is old Hollywood producer Irving Thalberg dying too young and poor Norma Shearer, his widow. So it has a bitter-sweet quality for me. And I love seeing "old man" names on boys. It's such a kick in the head when you meet one. Love it. So Irving gets a thumbs up from me.

I've never thought much of it, but it all sitting there on my computer screen made it seem rather striking. Irving. Yes, it is kind of dashing. And he wears three piece suits and he's an ornithologist who travels around the wilderness and makes little paintings for his books.
