I say don't change the spelling. Eva has at least three valid pronunciations: EE-va, E-va (or EH-va), and AY-va. Like Helena, this is one name where you just have to accept that you'll need to guide people's pronunication. I think that's less of a pain, ultimately, than dealing with a misspelling like Ehva or Evva.
For what it's worth, I've never met an Eva (EE-va). I pronounce it almost identically to Ava without thinking, and, since I live in a place with a lot of Spanish speakers, all the RL Evas I've met have been either E-va or AY-va. The EE-va assumption may not be as universal as you think, and people can adapt.
