What I gather...
Hmmm, seems to be mixed reviews on Urban. I knew that one would be the harder sell. I decided on that one because we were trying to honor the grandfather whose initials are UPL without outright using his first name. Urban seemed like a good fit for that reason and because of the number of Catholic popes who have assumed the name. I also like that it's not terribly common (as someone who hasn't responded to my first name in years because I never know if someone is talking to me or the other numerous women with my name)
That being said, I do see how its literal meaning can be a put off - you guys think it's enough to not use it? I'm open to suggestions on other names you think might work with Gemma. Thanks for all the feedback, everyone!

What was the first name of grandfather UPL? Maybe there is another way you could honour him besides using his initial. Names which go with Gemma:Gemma & Elliot
Gemma & James
Gemma & Patrick
Gemma & Paul (I know this was the middle name before, perhaps it could work as a first name?)
Gemma & Kieran
Gemma & Caleb
Gemma & Martin
Gemma & George (I don't usually like alliteration but these sound good together imo)
Gemma & Luke

Well, if you really like Urban, then I see no reason why you shouldn't use it, especially since it's honouring someone. The only 'U' names I could come up with (that honour Italian heritage) were Ugo and Ulisse or Ulysses.
