Saverio + some Italian combos
I never really noticed this name, but when I was in Sicily last spring, I heard a mother calling her adorable son Saverio, and I kind of fell for it. It's a form of Xavier, which (pronounced like Javier) was my uncle's name and would have been my mn if I had been a boy. I'm not sure I like Saverio as a fn, because it doesn't sound as nice when spoken in English, and I live in the United States. Besides, the only nn I can think of is Sav, which is okay, but not excellent. So I'm thinking it would make a nice mn for an Italian combo. I don't like the sound of it following another name that ends in O, so I've matched it up with names that end in A.
Luca Saverio
Andrea Saverio
Nicola Saverio
Which do you prefer? Any other thoughts for fns for Saverio?
Some thoughts--
Luca is becoming pretty common for boys in this country, but do you think Andrea and Nicola still read immediately as girls' names? I knew a male Nicola, born in Monaco but raised here. He didn't seem to have a problem with his name, but then again, he went exclusively by Nick. I would feel kind of silly giving a kid a "difficult" name like Andrea or Nicola and then mostly calling him Dre or Nico, when I could have gotten those nns from much more common fns.

Saverio is an interesting name, but I think of the words "severe" and "cesarean." They aren't that close to the name, so it probably wouldn't be that much of an issue, though.
Since you live in the U.S., Luca would probably be the best bet as Andrea and Nicola are typically used for girls here. Luca Saverio also has the best flow out of the three.
