Aubrey
A new name I love is Aubrey. It makes me think of fall, beautiful colored leaves and sunsets. I guess that's because it sounds a bit like the word "autumn".
I'm a bit worried it might be too common, because Aubree and Aubrie are used as well and then there's Audrey.
Would Aubrey and Audrey get confused easily?
I like it for a girl, by the way. For a boy I like Auberon.

Aubrey is a recent love of mine too, but only for a boy.
Either way, I don't think it's too common yet. I've met both male and female Averys, and I've met Audreys, but no Aubreys yet.

nooo :-( see my post further down about Aubrey!
I LOVE this name
But it is a boys name
I'm SO upset this is being now used on girls...ever since that song - i blame it on that!
anyway for this reason I can't name my son a name which may be more popular and trendy on girls! So I'm naming my future male puppy this :-)

What's the song? How old is it? I was just wondering how long Aubrey has been used on girls. I don't think I knew it was really a boy's name until I started researching names on the Internet.
I love Aubrey, but only for a boy. There are so many choices for parents of little girls. I don't understand why they keep pinching traditional boy names. If it went in both directions I wouldn't mind so much. But it's a one way street and it bothers me. Alberic and Auberon are great too.
I do love Audrey for a girl. Unfortunately, there will be a lot of confusion between Audrey, Aubrey, Aubree, Aubrie, Aubreigh, Ahbreey and any other weird spelling parents think is "unique."
Sorry to be such a downer. But these trends are pet peeves of mine.

I agree with Bear. Aubrey is one of my favorites for a boy only. I hate how we are losing more and more traditionally boy names to the girls. :(
Aubrey's definitely on it's way up. I'm not sure how high it will rise, but since it's gone from 153 to 44 in the past five years, it's obviously hot right now. It wouldn't surprise me to see it in the top 25 in the future, maybe even the top 15. Whether that's too common or not is up to you, of course.
Between Aubrey and Audrey and their various spellings, there does seem to be more than a few little girls with names that are the same or very similar. Aubrey could easily be confused for Audrey and vice versa.
FWIW, I like Aubrey for a girl, too. It was one of my top names when I was expecting.

Thanks! What did you end up naming your daughter if you don't mind me asking?
Aubrey fell three places compared to last year and Audrey dropped 3, too. Maybe by the time I have kids it will be less common.

I had a boy instead. :)
I still like Aubrey very much, though. It might make a reappearance on my lists if I have another child and I'm lucky enough to have a girl.
