I know three Ashleys. One's 40-something, one's about 25 and the other is nearly four. They're male, and so are all the Ashleys I've ever met or heard of.
It's too surname-like for me on boys or girls, but I would definitely spell it Ashley on both.

I know one female Ashley, who is 5 and I dont know very well. I know 2 male Ashleys, who are both 20. Therefore I consider it more of a masculine name. Nevertheless, I would definitely spell it this was Ashley, rather than some trendy "feminized" version like Ashlee or Ashleigh, which I think look tacky.

Obviously it's a name you really like so I don't think you should let the popularity put you off. Especially if you're not planning to have kids anytime soon; the popularity might be completely different by then!

I, personally, vastly prefer it on a boy. It's just still so very, very common on a girl. I don't hate it on a girl (it is my little sister's name, after all), but I have known way too many girl Ashleys to like it on a girl anymore.

I've met quite a few Ashleys, despite being born ahead of the Ashley curve. I spell it Ashley; the other spellings dumb it down, imo.

While pretty, Ashley is very, very tired now, and I think ten years will only make it worse. For a mn, it's fine, but as a fn, Ashley needs to nap for about a hundred years.

I hate Ashley on a boy, at least in the US, so I definitely prefer Asher.

I know one male Ashley and a female Ashleigh. I dislike the name. I'd rather see it on a boy.

It is ok. I don't really like it but I don't dislike it either.
I think of a blond girl who is popular & into her looks.
I only had one in my high school class (2000) but my sister who was 2 grades behind me went to school with about 6 through the years.

I love it for a boy, but would probably wait a while. I don't really like Asher, and Ash is more a nn to me. But that's probably because every Ashley I know is nn Ash.

In school (the 90s), it was one of the few names you could see multiple names on almost every yearbook page. Sarah, Elizabeth, and Kristina (and their various spellings) were other top contenders. Point is, I don't know how many I've come across in my life, but nowadays, that I'm not in school I hear it a lot less. It's almost rare, but it still pops up randomly.

I think it's a really tired, overdone name. I'm not fond of it for either gender. It's more refreshing on a boy though. I also know a ton of Ashleys so that's probably why I feel the way I do. I'd spell it Ashley.

First Ashley I ever knew of was a boy, so I was surprised the first time I met a girl Ashley... and then when I discovered there were lots of them... nmsaa, but not horrible... Have seen Ashlee and Ashleigh...the latter is a bit of a stretch... Just Ashly like that feels like something's missing, so I guess Ashley or Ashlee would be preferable...
I like Asher for a boy as well (My Asher combo is Asher Kazuki)
Thins to pair Ashlee/Ashley w/... Hmmmm... You pick which side of the name these should go on since some go better on one side than the other... anything ending in a should prob'ly be after Ashley rather than before it... (can go by mn if you prefer things in opposite order for flow purposes).

I prefer it on a boy, and possibly Ashleigh is too contrived but it looks more feminine to me.
Ashlin quite appeals to me, but I'd never use it.

I prefer it for a boy, but it works fine as a MN. For a girl it just feels masculine to me, despite knowing a few very feminine girls with this name.

I have a cousin named Ashley; she is 23 years old. I have met others, but she is the only one I know personally.
