Mary Elinor is totally adorable.

I think of Elinor less as a needless variant of Eleanor, but as a lesser used classical spelling (I feel the same way about Susannah). After all, what about Elinor Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility?

I like Mary Eleanor, and Mary Elinor seemed a tad too short at first but now it seems lovely...very regal!

It's my fave spelling as well. I also like Elin.

I'm preferring Elinor (and Elanor) more than Eleanor these days. Eleanor seems so stately while Elinor is more down-to-earth and lively. I don't think it looks misspelled at all.

I prefer Eleanor, however I accept Elinor as legit (a la Kathryn). It does look lovely written down and I adore Mary Elinor.

I love the spelling! I think it's a little more modern than Eleanor.

I think Elinor looks younger and maybe more European.
I would probably use Eleanor myself but I like seeing Elinor.

Elinor is a common swedish spelling and I hate it. I think it's boring and I just think of all the Elinor's I've met (not great people btw...)

This is my favorite spelling. Eleanor doesn't do much for me, but Elinor looks "younger."

I already gushed a bit over Mary Elinor, so you know I love it. I also love the thought of it as a duplet, heard all the time, rather than something that's only yelled when she's in trouble. :)

Elinor is my favorite spelling. There's something about that "ea" in Eleanor that I don't like; it's as if it makes the center of the name too weighty. Elinor is elegant, shapely, steeped in Regency flavor, and it definitely delights me.

I love Elinor, too! It doesn't look misspelled to me, but I'm used to seeing it in Sense and Sensibility. I like it more than Eleanor right now. Mary Elinor is very sweet.

I adore it. It's my favorite spelling of that name, and it's the only instance that I can think of where I prefer an "alternative" spelling of a name to the more traditional version. Personally, it doesn't feel any less legitimate than Eleanor to me. I think probably what I especially like about it is than none of the vowels and consonants touch each other, which has always weirdly been a plus to me in names.

Oh, I adore Elinor! It's crisper and somehow more melodious than Eleanor, which I also love but whose skyrocketed popularity unsettles me.
