Just saw a name today that I had never heard on anyone before. Gytta..prounouced Gee-ta
Long e's. Was wondering what your opinion was on it.

Gytta reminds me of the word Gypsy. Sorry, but it is pretty horrible spelling. Gita is much better.

Hmmm, I thought I had come across this name before as a variant form of Gyða and Guðfríðr (see Gytha), but when I just looked her up, there is only Gyta and Gytha.I have to say I'm secretly fascinated by Gyða in a very GP sort of way. Gytta, however... I don't know, this variant (if it is one in the first place) is just not for me.

I knew a Gita once, same pronunciation. I think that's how she spelled it. She was from India. The sound is OK. I have no other associations for it and it strikes me as random sounds put together.Using the spelling Gytta doesn't improve it for me. It looks more like "GIT-uh" to me. It strikes me as a headache of a name. Is it Scandinavian? Is it from somewhere else, or made up? Just curious?
