Odette/Odessa/Océane?
What do you think of the names Odette, Odessa, and Océane? I'm a huge ballet fan, so I love Odette, and I think that Odessa is just so pretty. I'm not sure if I would use them as first names because they're so unusual, but maybe as middle names. There are hardly any common O names, besides Olivia.
Also can you think of any nns? I like Dessie for Odessa. Any pairings? Vote on my PNL, please!

I love Odessa and like Odette. I feel indifferent about Oceane. I've always thought Tess could be teased out as a nn for Odessa. And ever since seeing All I Wanna Do years back, I've loved the nn Odie for either :)Miriam Odette is a combo that just came to mind

Odie always makes me think of that dumb dog on Garfield... and would for a significant portion of the N. American population, I'm afraid.

I've loved Odette since I was a little girl, back when I was a fan of the movie "The Swan Princess" (it's the name of the title character). It's a simple yet very pretty name.Odessa has always reminded me of "odyssey" (and therefore "The Odyssey"), which is a plus. Also a very pretty name.Oceane... if I were French, living in France, this would be my daughter's name.

Odessa's actually the feminine form of Odysseus! I love that association as well.

I have really bad associations with Odette, but Odessa and, especially, Oceane, are beautiful. (apologize, can't make the accent with my keybaord. )Oceane is beingused ocasionally in my (French-speaking) community. There's Ophelia, as an O name. And Opal.

I like all of them, but Odette is my favourite. I really like the ballet association too. The problem is the first syllable sounds like "ode" as in odious and odour, or "odd". That bothers me a little. I would use Etta/Ettie as a nickname for Odette and Essie for Odessa. Maybe Annie for Océane? Although I don't think it really needs a nickname.
I love O names! It's such a deep, thoughtful letter, like the sea or a dark sky.
Océane is really pretty but I prefer it as a middle name. Odessa is also nice but my least favourite of the 3, I just don't like -essa endings.
Some Odette combos:
Odette Constance
Odette Delphine
Odette Domitille
Odette Esmée

Odette Isoldemy mind is blank for Odessa and Océane though, sorry.

I love Odessa and Océane! I'd use either of those as a fn-- Odessa could have nns like Essa and Ode. I think Oceane could work on its own as a fn too. I don't like Odette as much-- the "ette" is too girly, and it's too hard with the "d". The "essa" in Odessa softens up the hardness of the d, but that doesn't happen in Odette.I like:Odessa Luned

Anna Odessa

Charlotte Odessa

Océane is pretty. Odette and Odessa don't excite me, but I don't hate them either... I kinda like Desssa better than Dessie, but I'm not sure I'd be inclined to go the nn route w/ Odessa... I did meet an Odile from France last week. I quite like the name Oceana (prn'd O-shee-na w/ emphasis on 2nd syl). Guess there's not so much in the girls' name dept. starting w/ O though... I do know an Olga and an Orith though.Pairings:
Odessa Brielle
Odessa Chantal
Odessa Charisse
Odessa Joanne
Odessa Vivian
Odessa Carmel
Odessa JanelleOceane Carmella
Oceane Jacinta
Oceane Vanessa
Oceane Erika
Oceane Lucille
Oceane Lucia
