Ayelet?
I just encountered this name and am intrigued by it aesthetically. I know it is a Hebrew name, but I am unsure of the pronounciation. At present,I'm pronouncing it like Violet, without the 'v'. Can anyone shed some light on its propper pronounciation? What is your opinion of it?

It's pronounced eye-YELL-et. Listen to the pronunciation here: http://www.forvo.com/word/ayelet/It's a nice enough name, very pretty. It's the name Isla Fisher took as her Hebrew name when she converted to Judaism.

The pronunciation is pretty. The way it looks reminds me of the word "eyelet", but that's not a big deal really.

I would pronounce it the same way, but I don't know if it's correct.I don't like it. I think it looks trendy because of the Y in there and also it sounds like eyelet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyelet

I'm totally unfamiliar with it, but it reminds me of eyelets - those little holes in fabric for decorative purposes or for a loop to fit through.
