I used to think it was over-the-top, but I've come to like it. Possibly because I know of one (well, Peregrin, as in Took), so it seems more usable (his nn is also Pippin). I loved the falcons when I was a kid, so that helps, too. It's such a dashing and wildly adventurous name. I can see him standing there on his ship with his hand on the hilt of his sword. Oh, and it also is very colonial/revolutionary war era to me because I read once about someone named Peregrine something who was on the Mayflower.My combos...
