I know loads of Ellies so any appeal it might have has as a nickname has kind of worn away. It's in the top hundred in the UK on it's own and if you add all the Eleanors called Ellie or whatever it is the ultimate trendy nickname, basically a female version of Alfie (although I like Alfie!). It's not bad but I can't get excited about it. I do love a lot of El- names, Elizabeth, Elinor, Ellen etc. though.
