Pocahontas
I saw a woman named Pocahontas in an obituary yesterday. I can't say I have ever seen anyone else named that in this day and age. Has anyone else heard it being used?

No. Never.I think it would look kind of ridiculous in this day and age because of the Disney adaptation of the story.

I've never seen a real life Pocahontas, but that is amazing. Now I just need to see a real life Scheherazade and my life will be complete. was she an elderly woman?

I know a Scheherazade (well, it's Šeherezada here) and I've heard of a few more. So, you just have to visit Croatia:-)

Šeherezada is an awesome name! I can't say I've ever seen or heard that form before.

A hugely popular Turkish soap had the main character named Şahrazad and I bet there will be baby Šeherezadas born here because of it (same thing when a Mexican soap Esmeralda was popular).

She was only 68. Her still living sisters are Johnnie, Leona, Ramona, Renee, Rita, and Georgia. Her daughter's name is Daphne. A Scheherazade would be a good find!

I've never heard it on a real person either, but I do love the name. Not for a kid (I'm not *that* insane) but maybe a pet or a character. Pocahontas is nice =]

Pokie... the thought never crossed my mind, but no, they didn't mention a nickname. :-D
