Mina
This is a name I meant to mention in my earlier post for opinions but it slipped my mind.
I used to absolutely love this name when I was younger. No doubt heavily influenced by the Sailor Moon dub that I was crazy about when I was 9-12 and watched on T.V. Then I don't know what happened to get me to take it off my list. Perhaps it was when I learned her real name a couple of years ago and so it no longer held the same appeal. I don't know. But anyway now I'm liking it again.
Can you think of any other names that Mina could be a nn for besides Wilhelmina? I like Wilhelmina but I am not absolutely crazy about it.
Thank you,
Jamie

Thanks for the suggestions
I do like Mina on it's own as well but I was curious what other names could get the nn Mina to see if I liked any a lot.
I do like:
Adamina
Marina
Melina
Thanks for all the suggestions. If I were to ever use it, it would likely be on it's own and not as a nn but I'm glad to know there are some great names out there that can give me Mina as nn just in case.

My mother in laws name was Palmina
Mina is on my top ten list--it's adorable! Personally, I love it on its own, but I also think it would be great as a nn to Philomina/Philomena, a lovely name! Someone mentioned a Greek origin having something to do with moon, and I've actually found several other meanings as well. I don't know how accurate some of these are, but I'll list them for you anyway:
Japanese: all, everyone, everything
German: love
Persian: blue sky
Hindi: born in the lunar month of Pisces
Arabic: harbor
Although Mina is not currently in my top three, I'm often tempted to move it there...

Mina is my favourite girls name! I don't think it needs to be a nn, but I like Adamina a lot. I like Wilhelmina as well.
Amina,Adamina,Philomina
What about the name Melina? I think that it would be a cute nn. :)
LOL I liked Sailor Moon too.
Anyway, I love the name Mina. I actually like Wilhelmina, too. Anything with a -mina- in it would work. Adamina, Jesamina, Minako (LOL). Mina on its own is pretty, but I don't know that I'd use it.

Thanks! I hadn't thought about Adamina, I like that more than Wilhelmina I think.
I'll save Minako on my list in case I fall in love and marry a Japanese man or one day adopt a baby girl from Japan. I think it would look/sound weird on a child who wasn't even partly Japanese. I'll leave the Sailor Moon part out when re-telling how I named her though. It does have a really nice meaning so that should work well enough. ;)
