Selma

It's a very "brown" name for me - humble, quiet, friendly, domestic, polite, mousy. I think it would be adorable on a little girl. I defintely think of it in the same vein as Elsa, Maisie and Eugenie. It's a sweet, simple name, homemade and lumpy. It reminds me a lot of Alma, but even more homey and low-key.
I'd combo it like
Selma Frances
Selma Ruby
Selma Jane
Selma Enid
Selma Judith
Selma Ivy
Selma Dulcie
Selma Hattie
Selma Tilly
Selma Patience
Selma Claribel
Selma Clementine

Patience and Clementine are winners :)
Complete agreement.
Funny, today is Selma's nameday in Sweden. I think of Selma Lagerlöf (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selma_Lagerl%C3%B6f), which is a good association, I like it. :)
Alabama!
The name makes me think of freedom marches in 1962.
