It's dated, but I'm sort of into dated names. I like it, look and sound, yeah. The only reason it's not on my list is because it derives from Michael and I'm uptight about origins.

My neighbor, a guy in his seventies, has the surname Mitchell and is called Mitch by everyone. His grandson lives there too, and the boy (8?) has the first name Mitchell. He is called Mitchell by the family, to distinguish them. So it's ageless to me now anyway =)

I don't mind it. I think the name is tainted here because of the Mitchell family in Eastenders - I think a lot of people would think of that. however, in a country outside the UK I think it would be fine and I don't find it dated.

I don't mind Mitchell, but have always been torn on whether it's practical to actually use. You know, should a kid have such an easy nickname that rhymes with swear word. So I'd probably steer away from it.
May I interest you in Marshall instead? That one's been growing on me lately.

I like it a lot. Mitch is a great nickname. I actually know a nine-year-old with this name; he goes to my church. He's really energetic and talkative, so I guess that's the kind of person I picture the name belonging too.

Mitchell is great, I like it a lot. It reminds me of a serious, mature person, but it is flexible in that the nickname "Mitch" is more friendly and laid back. Thanks for bringing this name to my attention again, I had forgotten about it. I'll have to add it to my list!
