I think that like non-twin siblings, twins should have names that aren't too close to one another. It gets confusing otherwise, especially if they are of the same gender.

Bobbie Jean and Bonnie Jean are way too similar. At first glance, I thought they had the same exact name until I looked at it more closely. That reminds me of when I went to school with twin girls named Jenilyn and Jerilyn. I hadn't met them in person, so when I saw them in the yearbook, I thought that one girl had been put onto her classes' page twice. They were wearing the same dress in their school pictures and could have passed for the same person.

I love when the names of the twins together well. I like it when they have the same meaning.

What I don't much care for is matching initals, though If you just happen to like those names but that is okay. I hate names that are almost the same like the first two on the list. That is just ridiculous. I think I'd would just name twins my favorite two names just as if they were regular siblings and not twins.

I've taught Michael/Michelle twins, and one half of Mark/Marcelle twins. And DS was at school with two sets of twins, one Philip and Martin, the other Olaf and Ulf. DD, similarly, knew Charles and Camilla! Named long before the royal indiscretions became public knowledge.

I was at school with quite a few, most of whom I've forgotten. Ardre and Janine; Ian and Lisa; Carissa and Genevieve; Pat and Jane; Gillian and Patsy ... wasted opportunities, most of 'em.

I think twins should be named according to the parents wishes. If their parents like want to name them matchy names simply because they are twins, that's up to them. I wouldn't, but it's their choice. If they want to use names that have some sort of link, but aren't too matchy, that's also their choice. If they want to just use two names they love, also a good choice.

My cousin just had identical twin boys Jake and Cole, to join big brother Beau. She was insistent that the boys have their own name, nothing matchy. I would have done the same thing.

I think, when one has multiples, names shouldn't be too similar. For instance Ava and Amelie is fine, Hannah and Anna is precariously close to a caricature.

Just because they have similar names doesn't mean they have the same name and therefor are considered they same. Their names come be similar and they can have their own identity. Sorry off topic. It just annoyed me. I've always liked Delaney and Dempsey for twins. I probably wouldn't use rhyme-y or similar names, but I don't really care when people do. Besides twins parents name their kids similar names. More so in Japan.

It depends on the names. I don't mind names that start with the same letter or have the same ending (such as Noah and Naomi, or Leah and Alyssa). But I DON'T like them when they are extremely similar.
