Cordelia
What do you think of Cordelia, probably nicknamed Cordy or possibly Dellie? Pronounced Kawr-dee-lee-uh

I don't really like Cordelia much. I much prefer Cornelia, pronounced kor-NAY-lee-uh

Up until recently, I really disliked Cordelia, I thought it was quite unattractive and old fashioned. However, I've seen it mentioned a few times recently and it's growing on me.I only like the nickname Cora though, I don't like Cordy, Dellie or Delia at all.

This is a bit of a GP for me, especially since I'm such a Shakespeare nerd.

Cordelia is one of my favourite Shakespearean names, right up there with Ophelia, Beatrice, and Emilia. It's elegant and sophisticated. My favourite nickname for Cordelia is probably Dee; I don't like Cordy too much and Dellie seems like a stretch pronunciation-wise.

Cordelia is pretty. It's a bit too frilly for me to consider using, but I do like it. Cordy is a cute nickname. I prefer it to Dellie. Dellie reminds me of the word "deli." How about Della as a nickname possibility?

I don't like it. Maybe partly I love Cornelia and feel like she is overshadowed by upstart Cordelia, partly because I don't like the associated character and feel like it is, with Ophelia, almost too Shakespearian. Partly I just see cordial.
I love Cora - I don't think the Cord- sound is one I'd choose to emphasise - and Dellie is very sweet. Delia is nice too, if you can get past the dated sound. And Lia is lovely. That's a good thing about Cordelia, lots of nicknames.

I love Cordelia! It's so rich and sonorous.I find Cordy rather charming; however, Dellie doesn't sit well with me, for it doesn't reflect the pronunciation of Cordelia.

I don't like it. I prefer Cornelia, even if I don't really like that one either. I know two Cornelia's, and my principal has called me Cornelia a couple of times for some odd reason. I would probably use the nn Cora, Lia or Nelia.

I love Cordelia - I have for years. I think I'd use Cordy as a nn. I have a less than good association with Dellie (used as a nn for a Fidelma). Anyway I like the way Cordy sounds.

I love the name. Cordie looks better to me as a nickname than Cordy, but the sound is alright. I prefer Cora or Delia myself. Dellie sounds cute, but I can't get the deli counter out of my head. Thinking of other possible nicknames for which the sounds are present in Cordelia...Cori
Orla
Della, if the "e" is shortened
Dolly - different order, but the sounds are mostly there

I love the idea of Cordelia, nn Del. Ever since I saw "The Crying Game" I've been in love with Del as a nn. I'm not into Dellie, though. Everyone would think she was named afte a deli. Cordy works OK. I just really prefer Del, or Cora.

I really like it! I just read a book with a Cordelia in it, and it has grown on me. I also love the Shakespeare connection.
