Suzette
This is one of the many middle names for a future child that I kick around in my head. My mother is a Suzanne and my mother-in-law is a Susan. Hence I often play with Susanne, Susanna, or Suzette.
For some reason, I decided to look up Suzette on Name Berry, and one of the blog posts on 'Susannah' and its variations dismisses Suzette it as a French name that is now only suitable for poodles.
Just curious if others also perceive Suzette this way? I have never met anyone with the name, but I've long thought it was kind of cute.

I think it's fine for people. I used to know a Suzette, and the name suited her well. I've never thought of it as a name only suitable for poodles. The "z" gives it substance.
NO WAY!
Suzette is the most refreshing way to use one of the Susan names right now I think! Nameberry is crazy!!

Not remotely poodly! And what's wrong with French names - ask any Michelle or Madeleine!
I really like Suzette; I've met two - one a cheerful, sporty kid and the other a middle-aged typist with carpal tunnel issues, three brilliant sons and a husband who played Beethoven from memory on his excellent piano after dinner parties to clear his mind.

This name honestly makes me cringe. I think it would definitely fit better on a dog than on a human. Just my opinion, if you love it use it, because no one elses opinion matters
I can see it as a poodle name, but I wouldn't think it were strange if a person had it as an MN. It's not THAT precious.
noooo
Suzette is amazing! It's pert, snappy, and saucy. It does have a vixen-esque French flair, but why is that bad? Nambeberry is rubbish. Ignore those harpies.

Nameberry
I hadn't heard of nameberry.com until someone brought it up a few days ago. I went there and was had to leave quickly. The self-proclaimed expertese thing bugs me. And then to know that they are using their "powers" to down-play great names like Suzette is too much for this name nerd.

I remember reading in one of their books that they said that Zelda was the "red-haired hero of the Legend of Zelda series" or something to that effect.
1) The hero of those games is Link, not Zelda - Zelda is the princess.
2) Link is really more a blonde than a redhead; there are a VERY few pieces of official art that give him sort of reddish hair but in everything else he's blonde.
I couldn't take them seriously after that. If they're not going to even bother to do the research....

The sad thing is I really enjoyed their "Beyond Jennifer and Jason" series of books. They weren't nearly so snotty in those (maybe an editor told them to tone it down, or they weren't "famous" yet). I think they should have stuck to writing books, but then I guess they would only be regular millionaires instead of super-mega-millionaires.
To clarify on Name Berry, I am not sure if the site authors were responsible for the comment. In the name database, they say this about Suzette: "The name of the sexy French maid in a fifties movie -- so kitsch it's almost cool again."
Elsewhere on the site is an article or blog post (?) titled Oh, Susannah! in which the poodle comment is made.
It is not clear to me who writes which part of the site, so it may or may not be the work of the book authors.

I found the mentioned blog post
And it is not tagged "Guest Blogger", nor is there a little blurb about who wrote it at the bottom-- meaning it was written by Pam or Linda. I suppose it might be possible that Pam wrote one thing and Linda wrote the other and they don't exactly see eye to eye. They write both the site descriptions and the blog, but sometimes the blog has guests.
Though, I think sometimes the blog doesn't always line up with what the names say on the site either, regardless of who wrote it.

It could even depend on their mood at the time.
That happens sometimes with conceited people.

I want you on my jury. You know how to give people the benefit of the doubt. Kudos. :-)
Suzette's a fun, not-too-common name. It also sounds fancy. It's nice.
I don't really think it's a dog name. I do think of crepes though, and there are sus- names which I prefer (Susannah for example)
I don't think of poodles. But I do think of crepes. That said, Suzette is fine as a name. It honors and you love it and crepes are delicious. Win, win, win.

I don't perceive it that way, but I do perceive it as dated. I suppose it's really more 'retro' than dated, and I do think "Suzie" is pretty cute, but I wouldn't use it myself.
No, Suzette is cute. :) My mom is also a Suzanne, and while I'd prefer to honor her with Susannah, I think Suzette is adorable.
Who cares if it's not used in France anymore? I think it's adorable!!
Not at all.
While Susannah is my favorite form, I also like Susanna, Suzanne, Suzette and Susan. I see Suzette as sweet and spunky and think it's a very nice way to honor both Suzanne and Susan. :)

Suzette is suitable for people, but it always reminds me of crepes, so it's hard for me to like it.
I've actually never heard Suzette as a given name in France, or even Quebec or Haiti (after all, there are people who speak French all over the world). Maybe as a nickname, but it's probably not used as a given name, especially nowadays.

I'm not a huge fun of -ette names, but Suzette makes me think of "crêpe suzette." I have the impression it's more or less fallen out of use in Francophone areas.
Coincidence - I was at work yesterday and there was a Suzette there! I only saw her briefly - she w as small and dark I think. I rolled the name around in my head after I heard it.
I can see it's appeal - I'd say it's the French equivalent of an old lady name! I see it as a dynamic name but a bit dusty at the same time if that makes sense.
OT - When I was in school and picked the name Cécile to use in French class my teacher told me it was old-fashioned and would not be used in France.
I really like Susanna as well by the way and Susanne.

A real life Suzette. Awesome, since I've not come across one. I did find one the internet, courtesy of Google: http://www.suzettebarbier.com/ .
I like Cecile!
I like Cecile!
Cecile is pretty. I can't imagine it being old-fashioned at all. A lot of the names popular in France now (usually the non-French ones) sound so snooty and posh to me, not elegant like Cecile.
