BA: Geneva Constance
Replies
Okay, I've tried talking myself out of this, but I have to say it:
...........I'm kinda loving this sibset. *hides*
And, now that I've alienated myself from the other namenerds, I shall try to defend myself by saying: I've always been a sucker for Puritan names and, as soon as I opened the post, I instantly saw these names on an old ship's log or the Salem, MA 1670-ish census.
Now, would I like these names as much if I saw them on actual children? Probably not (with the exception of Geneva Constance). And, let's face it, the Puritans who named their kids "untraditional"-type names were probably the parents-of-Neveah of their time...But I can't help loving the set!
I would absolutely choose one of these if I were hosting an NTNB game on the Name Games Board here and I'd asked for a Puritan-type name...

Loyal Cromwell? Loyal Cromwell? Whatever your political leanings I don't think it's fair to hoist them upon your children. Knox Defender? How embarassing. Poor kids. It's making Triumph Perseverence look legitimate. I hate it when that happens.
Yeah. Geneva Constance completely lucked out. When I saw the title my first reaction was, "Two nouns, but not so bad. It sounds more like a name than a phrase so it's OK. And I do love both names. And they flow well together. So the fact that they are both nouns doesn't really bother me."
And then I saw her brothers' names. Wow.

I think you're absolutely right. Poor boys! I can't decide whether Triumph Perseverance sounds more like a bra or a car.
Urgh, city overkill. But it's definitely better than her brothers' names.
I do like Constance, however.

Oh dear
I'm such an idiot sometimes.
Read this this morning. Spent a couple of hours today editing and uploading pictures to FB from some of my travels, in an album entitled partly "Geneva, Konstanz...." in that order. Something was bugging me, me but I couldn't put my finger on it.
Working on Geneva, Konstanz..Geneva, Konstanz...and I STILL didn't get the two cities connection till I read this.
*headdesk* major blodne moment :)
yeah, slight city overkill. But at least its not Geneva London. Geneva Paris. Geneva New York. Geneva Saskatoon. Hey, wouldn't put anything past the parents of Triumph Peseverance. and Knox Defender.

There is more than a whiff of the Puritan about her parents!
Triumph Perseverance is totally Civil War; Knox and Cromwell honour two Reformation luminaries; and Geneva, home of John Calvin, takes it even further. But, the good part there is that by using Geneva and Constance together, the little girl scores three times: constance being a virtue name like Perseverance and I suppose Defender and Loyal, and Lake Constance being a geographical feature! Two names, and three resounding references! And she can even choose whether to go by Jenny or Connie. Oh yes, she's a lucky lass all right.

Oh wow. Geneva is my 2nd favourite girls name, so of course I LOVE that, and Constance does sound beautiful paired with it. great combo, two thumbs up.
Shame about the boys names. How do you even say those with a sstraight face? Triumph Perseverance? Knox Defender? Seriouslty??? They just make me laugh.
They suck at naming boys but their girl pick is great. Lucky girl.

Or caped crusaders from a comic! Lol. Poor boys, the girl definitely got lucky.
Beautiful! I love both names.
Her brothers' names, on the other hand, are ridiculous.
