Aria for a girl?
How do you like the name Aria for a girl? The nn will be Ari.

I absolutely love Aria! A little disappointed that it has already been used by Pretty Little Liars - hoping it doesn't become popular! It's a little unusable in Australia anyway, as it is the name of a music award.

Aria is OK, but I prefer Ariadne, Ariana or Ariane, with the nickname Ari.

It's stunning! I wouldn't hesitate to use this name. It's not weird, but it's not common.
It gets 1000 gold stars!

I think it's pretty sounding, but a little fluffy for me.

Friends of mine like Aria for a future daughter. I like it well enough, it's very light and pretty. Too light and pretty for me to use, but I can admire it from afar. Ari is rather cute, a bit boyish and sporty, which is always fun for a super-girl name like Aria.

I didn't used to like it much because I'm not terribly keen on the sound, but I do really like the word. And so the past few months I haven't been minding it... I've been able to make the opera association overcome the sound, and so I can kind of like it.I don't think it needs an official nickname at all. Yeah, you could call an Aria "Ari" casually, but it's such a short name that I think it would be strange to have it be the kind of nickname she is called all the time and she'd write down on her papers at school.

It's pretty. Not a name I'm drawn to enough to consider using myself, but I do like the "opera house" image it brings to mind.
