I love it; I hope it isn't getting too common. I don't think poison ivy jokes would be a big deal... they'd probably happen at some point, but I wouldn't avoid the name for that reason. I see Ivy as elegant, pretty, and mature; also sort of whimsical.

Well I never liked Ivy. It's such a plain name IMO. It is very short too.

I think kids will definitely come up with creative 'poison Ivy' jokes which might really hurt a little girl with this name.

Kids might make poison ivy jokes, but I can't help seeing an Ivy as quick-witted and self-possessed enough to throw a zinger of a comeback right back at 'em. :)

Where I live, it's not at all common. I think the reason for this is that it's still considered an "old lady" name. I'm personally not a fan of it.

I don't think of it as common. The poison ivy jokes would not deter me. It is a really pretty name.

I dislike Ivy. Iva is better.

I love Ivy! I think it's really sweet. I personally don't know any, but I know of a couple young ones.
I don't know about the poison ivy jokes... I'd like to think they wouldn't be too frequent, but who knows? I hear a lot of people complaining it reminds them in IVs, too, but that has never bothered me.

Ivy isn't my favorite name but it is nice. I don't think it's that common--I don't know anyone and I've never heard of anyone with the name Ivy. Poison Ivy jokes, yeah, could happen.

It's gorgeous. I don't think it's too popular in the U.S. It ranked #299 in 2010. I wouldn't use it as a first name if I lived in Australia, though. It ranked #56. I try to avoid top 100 names.

Poison Ivy jokes are a possibility, yes, but I don't see it as all that bad. I could see someone using Poison Ivy as a roller derby name or something of that sort. I used to know a girl in middle school named Iris, and she didn't seem fazed when she was called Iris the Virus. I think she may have even called herself that sometimes. If I were named Ivy and someone called me Poison Ivy, I'd say and think, "Is that really the worst you can come up with?"

I adore Ivy. One of my 'short and sweet' names.

I really like the name actually. It's short and cute, without being too cutesy and I like the botanical connection. It's not over popular here in Australia, but it has risen in popularity over the past year or so. I guess a girl named Ivy may get some poison ivy jokes, but I wouldn't let that put me off using it.

I like Ivy. I haven't yet met a baby or young person called Ivy, so I don't know if its becoming more of a trend or not. It does seem a nice alternative to all the Lilys and Avas. I don't think it's any more tease worthy than other names, so that wouldn't be an issue for me personally.
