James
James has been a favorite name of mine for a long time, since I can remember liking names. I've rediscovered it as of late, and I just find it irresistable all over again. Enough of my gushing - what are your opinions on the name James?

I really like it. my only complaint is that it's somewhat common - I generally prefer names that are more unusual. But nonetheless, James is on me and DH's short list of potential fns for boys (<10) with Jamie as a nn.Its simple, strong, classic and I've never met a Jamie that wasn't very charming and fun.

James is my all time favorite name. I love the nns Jem and Jemmy, and I don't mind Jimmy. I don't like Jim, though, and I hate the nn Jamie. My great-grandfather, grandfather, and father are all named James, so I'd use it in a second, both in honor of them and because I love it.My favorite combos are:
James William
James Thomas
James Bradley
James Nathaniel

One of my cousins is called James.I like it, and it's a good choice because it's one of those ones that doesn't become unfashionable really quickly. However if it was me I'd have it as a middle name, I don't know why.

its my favorite male name, its classic traditional and for me it is a family name too
I have noticed of late that in my area anyway it is being used less as parents are using the nickname Jamie as a stand alone name more and more

I love the name James. I wish my name weren't a nn of it or otherwise it would definitely be on my list. It's classic, traditional and you never get tired of it. It's a name you can't go wrong with.

Could use it as a middle name for a boy, in honor of yourself.

I've thought of that. And maybe if I were to have three boys (that's a stretch since I only want two children at most) then I would consider it for a middle name. Or if it is a strong family name for my future SO or a name of someone he wants to honor then I would use it as a middle name. But I would really love to use either Thomas (family name), Michael (family name), Mitchell (family name) or Harvey (my father's name) as middle names. And I will probably only get to use one of those even if I have two boys since I am sure my SO will have a family name he wants to use.

I adore it. Very classic. Plus, I love the nickname Jimmy. Sounds so rebelious and masculine and cool to me. (Associations.) But I also like James without a nickname. I hate Jim, though, for some reason.

This name is classic & timeless. It's my dad's & grandfather's name, although my dad goes by Jimmy/Jim.

I love it! It's third on my list, after Henry and William. I think it's great and timeless.. I don't like any of the nns though, especially Jim or Jimmy.
