I seem to be in the minority here
but I can't stand Oona. It has a very unpleasant sound - ew. The double oo makes me think of ooze. Even spelled Una it still has the ew sound and looks like a mispelled Luna. It doesn't sound serious to me. Sorry but Oona/Una is always a name that I can't figure out why people would name their children. It's sounds awful imo. I think I would hate being named that.Oona, dos, tres - yea makes me think of that too

You're notI usually fall head over heels for Irish names, but this one just doesn't strike my fancy. It's not pretty looking and sounds really silly. Reminds me of a boy I knew in Jr. High named Onie.

Agree, I want to like it... but I just can't.

You pretty much hit all the reasons I don't like it, either. Everyone else at another forum I post at loves it, too, and I can't figure it out. Spelled Una, it'd be acceptable to me (just not my taste). Anything beginning with "Oo" is just weird. OoooOOOooOOoOo...

I don't like it that much, either, especially when it's sp Oona. Admittedly, Una isn't much better. Oona/Una is just an odd-sounding name in general.
