Ramses / Rameses / Ramesses
I thought about this name recently, and want to know what everyone thinks.
Which spelling? Do you pronounce them significantly differently?
How usable is Rameses / Ramses / Ramesses as a first or middle name? Is Rameses the Great a good association, or too much to live up to for a real-life kid?
How would you picture a modern-day person with this name?
Would you want to see it used? Would you want to use it?
Any combos?

I can totally see it on a dog too! Maybe that's what I'll use it for (I don't like it enough tor a baby, at least not yet.)
I have a slight fascination with ancient Egytpian culture, so I actually have Ramses on my name list, spelled that way. I think it's cleaner and easier to process, not to metion I just like it's aesthetics better.
I think Ramses is a really cook association, and honestly I don't think many people will know about his exploits other than just the name so I think it's probably ok to use in that sense.
I would almost definately use it as a middle name, as it just sounds better and less pretentious there. Somebody with the middle name Ramses would to me be eclectic, wise beyong his years, quirky but in a unique not bad way. I would use Ramses as a mn, as I said.
Combos:

Jacob Ramses*
Walker Ramses
Gabriel Ramses
Sebastian Ramses*
Dimitrius Ramses*
Elijah Ramses
Isaiah Ramses
Ezekiel Ramses*
Miles Ramses
Oliver Ramses
Jesper Ramses
Milo Ramses*
Matthias Ramses
Dominic Ramses*
Nolan Ramses

One fn combo: Ramses Pascal, I like the flow, if it's not too history-heavy for you.
Let me know which combos, if any, you like. :)

I would spell it Rameses, but there is no way I can see it used on a real-life person.
There was a boy I went to school with for a short time, named Ramses. For whatever it's worth, he was not white-looking, but was American born and I was too young to wonder or guess at where his family originated. I guess if I'd never seen it before, and the bearer was white, I might think it was celeb-ish (is this bad, that I have this double standard? probably, but, there it is; it's based on learned expectation rather than judgment).
It's unusual but not extreme, IMO. Sounds reasonably normal and not nearly as much of a dramatic reference as, say, Tutankhamen or Amenhotep or Nefertiti. About the same level of drama as Isis. I think it sounds likeable. I prefer Ramses because I find it awkward to say with the e in the middle; with 3 syllables there seems to be too much emphasis on the eee sound in the last syllable. The only thing I'd worry about is, I have a vague association with condom marketing. I had to google it. Apparently Ramses is a brand of them.
