Wilder
What do you think of this name for a boy? Used it recently for the A-Z combos and it's stuck in my head. What combos would you make with it?
Wilder August is one I've come up with.

I used Wilder for something on here a while ago. The combo was Cormac Wilder and it has been in my head ever since.
Wilder's not exactly my style -- however, I find it handsome and mysteriously appealing.

Am I the only one who thinks of Almanzo Wilder?
Not a bad association to have, though. I always thought he sounded hot. :)

Oh yeah, I always thought he sounded totally hot, too!
But for Wilder my first association is Ranch Wilder from Angels in the Outfield. "You can't fire me! I'm Ranch Wilder!" Yeah.

His nn wasn't Manley for nothing. Hadn't thought of that. I loved those books as a kid.
Totally!...
yup

No idea who that it but I do think of Gene Wilder..... and Van Wilder
Cute but not for actual use unless your child is going to be the next Bear Grylls!
I think it would be sweet on a spunky puppy though!

Personally, I think Wilder is a handsome, soft yet strong name for a little boy. I LOVE Wilder August. The names complement each other fabulously.
I do like Wilder and the A-Z combos reminded me of that. I've not tried pairing him, but I'll give it a go. I do think Wilder August is nice.
Wilder Ace - GP, but I do like the sound
Wilder Benjamin
Wilder Campbell
Wilder Clark
Wilder Ellis
Wilder Finn
Wilder Graham
Wilder Hugo
Wilder Ian
Wilder John
Wilder Lawrence
Wilder Lee - doesn't feel like "filler" to me here but YMMV
Wilder Levi
Wilder Llew
Wilder Maxwell
Wilder Nash
Wilder Neville
Wilder Owen
Wilder Pierce
Wilder Rufus
Wilder Seth
Wilder Sullivan
Wilder Vaughn

I'd be a bit leery of using it in fear that the child be either really rambunctious and fit his name or really really shy and quiet and it'd be rather ironic. :o)
That said, I don't mind the sound of it. Wilder August is pretty sweet, actually.
I know a Grayson Wilder Johann, which has always struck me as a delightfully eclectic combo.
What about
Wilder Augustine
Wilder Augustus
Wilder Felix
Wilder Ephraim
Wilder Cedric
Wilder Cyril
Wilder Valentin
Like any?

I like the IDEA of Wilder but it sounds too much like a description to me and would only use it as a MN personally.
Wilder August looks nice but sounds to me like a phrase "We're going to have a wilder August this year than last"
I suppose if you're pronouncing it with a soft 'i' that would make a difference but if so I don't much care for its similarity to Wilbur - which is all pig to me.
