Re: Names from a class of Irish 9/10 year olds/New babies

Katarzyna is pretty. I think Carla was the one I was most surprised to see. It's pretty dated here. Virginie is so adorable, I think so every time I see it! Croía is interesting. I'm assuming it's Irish. What does it mean?
Sam Seán is actually pretty adorable, although I'd rather he'd a full first name. And I like Padraig a lot, but I think I prefer Padraic. I don't know. Sometimes I don't like the g.

Katarzyna was one of the kids with a Polish surname - I like it. Carla was never popular here so it doesn't seem that dated. Virginie is adorable.
Croí is the Irish for heart so Croía could come from that I am guessing. I have heard of Croí as a name before. On the other hand there is also a word cré which means earth.
Sam Seán is cute - Seán honours his grandfather. I think Samuel would have sounded a bit odd with their surname, it would have been a bit hard to say - though I would have preferred the full name myself.
It could be Padraic - I only heard it from my mother - she was not impressed with it!

Oh yes, I knew croí meant heart. Didn't think of that.
