I think that is exactly right. I have always thought of Cleo as an Anglicization of Kleio rather than a short version of Cleopatra, and Kleio means 'glory.'I like Cleo a lot. It has a lot of spunk.

Sounds right to me, but I couldn't tell you for sure. Cleo and Clio both are sleek, chic, and great alternatives to Chloe. I love the O ending. So rare on a girl name! Cleo feels modern and sophisticated, but still timeless and obviously has a great pedigree. Cleo is a winner.
