Elsa, Tyra, Ebba and Maja are almost too well-matched - very popular but also very classic, and the same length ... But I think Elsa and Ebba are too similar, they could have used Alma, Alva, Saga, Svea, etc, for one of them instead.

Yes, we have middle names in Sweden and I think it's very common that you get two middle names. They are very rarely mentioned in the BAs though. I'm not sure why. It could be that most of the time the middle names are family names and the most interesting thing for people is what the parents are going to call their child and not what family names they are using (I obviously disagree and I always get excited when I see middle names mentioned). It could also be that BAs are quite expensive and the longer the more they cost.

These are my local hospital's own (free) web BAs, so it's not about the cost in this case. But I guess the parents write them before they leave the hospital, so they might not have decided on middle names yet (or any name, only half or so of these BAs include names at all).

We have middle names, they're just not included in BAs very often. The ä in Märta makes a short "eh" sound (like in carry, my dictionary says), and the r is almost but not quite silent.
