MEREDITH
What are your thoughst on Meredith for a girl? Maybe with the nickname Meredi (MER-eh-DEE)
Replies
The Meredith I was at school with never used a nn; she was very occasionally called Merry, but it didn't seem necessary.
I am a big Meredith fan. I like that she's no-nonsense and can suit any number of girls. However, I'm not very keen on Meredi as a nickname. I would use Edie or Mer/Meri, personally. It doesn't necessarily need a nickname, though.
I love Meredith, but I think that comes from my love for the character Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy lol.
Also, I know a little Meredith, she's about nine now. The name fits her perfectly, I think it's totally usable on a child. But I don't like that nickname. I don't really like any nn for Meredith but Mere "Mehr" is most natural.
I like Meredith. It doesn't seem that popular but I have known/know at least 5 or 6. It is really sweet and soft. I don't like the nn Meredi though; somehow it takes away the softness.
My husband has mentioned liking it so now I am considering it as possible future middle name for a daughter.

It's alright, but I think I actually like it more as a MN for a boy.
I quite like it, actually. It's one of those ageless names I can imagine on both the youngest of babies and the eldest old ladies. (rhyming unintended...!)
The nickname Meredi seems a bit much, in that it has the same syllables as Meredith itself. I'd go with a shorter nickname, personally.

I don't really like Meredith, but Meredi is pretty cute. It doesn't seem super natural as a nickname from Meredith - unless you mean just for you or family, but I don't think it would catch on widely.
Truthfully, Meredi is so much better than Meredith that I find myself wondering if it could be a name on its own.

I don't like it. I'm not sure why, it's just not my style. Maybe it feels dated to me or something. I don't know. There are a few Mer-sounding names I like, and I like Edith, but apparently together, I don't care for it.
Also Meredi is the same number of syllables and doesn't really strike me as a nickname that would come naturally at all. I guess it would work, but it'd be something you'd really have to push on people.

It's okay. Not really my style, though.
