Nickname for Julia
What do you think of Jule as a nickname for Julia? I got to wondering because I had a great-aunt named Julia, but she was never called Julia. Always Jule. Is Jule unnecessary? Bad because it sounds like Jewel? Or okay?

I'm with the masses: Jules sounds better than Jule. Less harsh, more fun and spunky. I guess Lia (Leah) isn't a very natural nickname for Julia, eh?
It is fine- I'm pretty whatever about nicknames. It doesn't matter how 'tacky' they might be, so long as they have a good name to fall back on IMO.
Jule sounds incomplete to me. Every Julia I have known has been a Jules except my roomie who is Juj or Juju (but mostly goes by her full name)

Jule is fine. Jules is quite a common nickname for Julia, and Jule is very similar, so I think it works just fine.
However, it sounds like more of a nickname that would evolve naturally over time, rather than being a nickname that you decide to use before the child was even born. Does that make sense?

I suspect that Juliet's nurse calls her Jule, or did when she was a toddler. So it has a pedigree and a half!
I don't like it as much as Julie, but then I don't like Julia or Julie much at all. And though I'd be fine with Juliet as a mn, I wouldn't use it as a fn, so the issue has never arisen.
Come to think of it, Jamie Oliver's wife is Jools, which is beyond horrid. Rather Jule than Jools!

I like Jule. I'ts not unnecessary-- Julia is pretty prim and proper and grown-up, so Julie or Jule or some sort of "younger" sounding nickname seems to be in order anyway. I like that it sounds like Jewel, by the way.
Jule is perfectly acceptable as a nickname for Julia. However, I prefer Jules (with the S at the end.) I think the S just adds a bit of a cool edge- then you can get beautiful, elegant Julia and edgy Jules all in one package!
I think it's a fine nickname. I like it better than Jules, which is really unnatractive to me for some reason.
I've known Julias who went by Jules.
I like both, a bit better than Julie, I think. More of a family name, though, as opposed to a full-blown nickname.

I like Jules, but not Jule. Jule sounds incomplete to me.
