Adalia
I came across the name Adalia the other day. In the book it is a girls name but on this site it's a boys name - pronounced differently. Would you say it's a girls or boys name and how would you pronounce it? Do you like the name? Does it follow too closely along the Ava...Ada... line?

I pronounce it ad-a-LIE-a for a boy and a-DAH-lee-a (or a-DAHL-ya) for a girl. I prefer it for a girl. In the U.S., I'm betting that most people would assume it was a girl's name based on the way it looks. It's similar to Amelia, Amalia, Dalia / Dahlia, and quite a few other female names in terms of appearance.

I know a 4-year-old girl named Adalia. ah(like the sound you make when you open your mouth at the doctor's office)-DAH(to rhyme with the first ah)-lee-ah. It sounds very German when they say it.
If I was coming across it for the first time, I'd say ah-DAY-lee-uh. I think it's quite pretty.
