What do you think of Joey as a nickname for a woman or girl?
Short for Josephine or Joanna, or something similar.

I would NEVER use Joey on a girl. I would use Jo, or Joie, or Josie.

I like it better than just Jo. Joey seems spunky & tomboyish but in a cute way.

I don't like it at all. It's totally masculine to me.

Awesome, but I love boyish nicknames on girls:
Jo/Joey
Sam/Sammy
Alex
Dan/Dani

Somebody tried this with my mother once (she's a Joanna) and got a very withering response. I can imagine it on a very little girl, but not on anyone older, or with any dignity. Also, it makes me think of baby kangaroos!

I find it trite and rather nasty. And I see it a lot, mostly on stout middle-aged ladies named Johanna.

I know a Joanna that goes by Joey. It's really just a fun nickname from high school that friends would call her. At first I thought it was a little strange as Joey is more for a 5 yr old boy to me, not a young woman but it's grown on me.I see it more for Joanna though. For Josephine I'd rather not see a nickname (as I love the name too much to give it a nickname).

I like it. Masculine nicks for girls are fine by me as long as there is another option to fall back on (Joanna, Josephine, Joelle, Joely, Jocelyn).

I think it's cool, but it reminds me of Joey Potter from "Dawson's Creek."

I think it's really sweet for a little girl, and that it's cute on an adult in informal settings, though I like Josie a bit better. My favorites it could be a nn for are Josepha and Josette.

I don't like Joey on a girl. Jo is okay. But Posy is silly, and Josie reminds me of Josie and the Pussycats (which is not a bad association, but still).Josephine and Joanna are both pretty on their own.

I really like it for a child. I'm not as sure about for an adult, but on the right person it would work.

I don't like boyish nicknames on girls. At all. Says the mother of Victoria nn Torrie who says she went to high school with several black boys nicknamed Tori, short for Dantorius and the like.

Works if Josephine is a tomboy. I personally prefer Posy

I don't have a problem with it, I'm not fussed about nicknames. But my fave nickname for Josephine is Josie.
