My friend's partner is Damien, so that is the version I'm more used to. Usually I don't enjoy French (or any foreign-language) spellings unless the French pronunciation is used, but Damien slips under my radar.

Damon is so wonderfully Runyon! As a name, I don't like it, but as a reminder of some of the funniest stories ever written down, I love it. Wouldn't use it, though. Might use Damien, given enough sons - and one never is.
