Alberta
What do you think of Alberta? My grandfather's name is Albert, so I've always had warm feelings about this name, even if it isn't exactly pretty.

It reminds me of the place, Alberta, Canada. It doesn't call to me.

Well, I don't dislike it as a middle name at all. But if I were to honor Albert with a fn for a girl it would be Albertine or Albertina.

Love it. It's one of my very favorites. It's not one that I'd call pretty either, but I still think it's cool and bluesy and smart. My stock combo is Alberta Elizabeth. I like the L's.

CanadaI've got a friend in that province and all I can think of is that.

I agree, it's like calling a child Ontario or Halifax.

Well......to be fair, Alberta was a name before it was a province, so I disagree that it would be just like naming a child Ontario or Halifax. I'm an American, though, so my impression is probably very different from yours.

Totally OT, but Halifax is now going on my GP list....

I agree, it'd be more like naming your kid Georgia or Carolina rather than Ontario. Doable, recognized as a name, but still with a strong association with a place.

It's a great place to live, I love it here. :)It's a nice name, strong and solid. I like it. I wouldn't use it though (since it's where I live, it might be weird)

I usually don't like a lot of feminine forms that are just the original male name with an A attached, but I love Alberta. It sounds like it would belong to a very pretty and intelligent girl. I'd seriously use it.

Just wait for me to say, "Oh, Canada". Oh, that is all the name Alberta makes me think off.
