Wow. I think it's beautiful. I've never dislike Esperanza, but I certainly didn't love it, either; it's been steadily on my "averagely like" list. Espérance, however, is positively stunning. Ironically, I've never been to wild about French names. I like a few, but not enough for my taste to lean towards French. So all in all, I think it's an excellent name, and it's not at all trying too hard. I'm sure there must be at least a couple of people in France (or other French-speaking countries) named Espérance. It only makes sense.
