I don't really have a strong preference, but Maddy seems more natural.Easily a nickname for Madeleine (and spelling variations) or Madison, but could also work for Matilda, Magdalene, Madlenka, Mairead or Maud.

Madison, Madelyn, Madeline
Don't know. I've always known Maddies but Maddy seems softer.

The obvious: Madeleine, Madeline
Less common derivatives of the obvious: Maddalena, Madelina, Madelon
The less obvious: Amedea, Andromeda, Madelief, Magda / Magdalen / Magdalena / Magdalene, Margaret (via Madge), Marigold, Mathilda / Matilda (via Mattie), Maud / Maude, Medea, Midori, Mildred

I prefer Maddie. The only full names I can think of for Maddie are Madeline (and its various spellings) and Madison.UPDATE: There's also the Italian Maddalena, which is the Italian form of Madeline.
