I prefer Quinton. Quincy seems a bit to soft (and kind of snobby) to me depending on how you pronounce it. quin-see would get the previous description, quin-zee like the town is much stronger.

Quincy makes me think of the quince fruit, and John Quincy Adams. I have a hard time imagining it on a real baby. For me, it has a kind of pretentious/uppity feel. I think Quinn sounds a lot more down-to-earth. Or perhaps Quentin or Quintin.

But I agree with you, Quinn seems to be used more and more for females. When I hear the name, I think of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" or the sister Quinn on the show "Daria." Okay, my references are a bit dated but even still-- I can only think of female bearers of the name in the media.

All I can picture is a snowfort, so Quincy doesn't sound like the name of a person to me. But I'd pair it with something traditional. Quincy Thomas. Quincy Alexander. Quincy Benjamin. Along those lines.
As for boy or girl, if I heard the name I would not assume anything. It seems pretty middle of the gender-road to me.

I've always liked it, and I pronounce it "KWIN-zee." That's how people from MA say the name, as opposed to "KWIN-see."

I think it has a great historical ring to it, and it's a strong, simple, slightly edgy name. It's great if you ask me, though it could start to sound trendy. I've actually met a little girl with this name, too, though I prefer it on a boy.

For middle names, I think something strong, simple, and classically manly. Quincy Michael, Quincy Thomas, etc. Basically anything but Quincy John or Quincy Adam, since you don't want it too reminiscent of John Quincy Adams.
