My dad's called Paul!

So...it makes me think of him, and i guess it would give me a "funny" vibe because of that.

I get a comforting, quiet, sweet vibe from this name.

My DH is named Paul, so I only have good vibes from the name!

I love the name Paul. Very handsome. The Pauls I've known have all been handsome, athletic, All-American types. Not a creep in sight. :)

I don't get creepy at all. Boring perhaps, but not creepy. I like it as a mn sometimes, as in Thaddeus Paul.

I love seeing forgotten classics revived so I'd be thrilled to meet a baby Paul. But I admit it's not a favorite. I much prefer it in its feminine variants Pauline and Paulina.

Perhaps the creepy vibe comes from a religious association in your mind with St. Paul and how he wants women to be treated. I'm not saying he is or isn't creepy. But some people might react that way. (I don't wan to start a whole OT stream on this so I've kept it as neutral as I can.)

Paul is fairly common in my area, as a name standing alone, and particularly as combined name-
Leo-Paul
Jean-Paul
Paul-Emile-and I also know a Peter-Paul (English speaking).

I don't see Paul as at all creepy, but I don't get the nerdy vibe either. I always pictured the popular kid in school: star athlete, handsome (light brown wavy hair in the traditional male cut, light eyes and a nice smile), nice to his mom but was probably a jerk in middle school and high school, but just to maintain his popularity.

I like it, and I think it's handsome. It also has an intelligent air about it.

I adore Paul. I never really cared for it before I went to Ireland but over there I had two great lecturers. One of them, the professor was named Patrick Paul (but called Paul) and he was an extremely intelligent man and also very charming, always nice and with the most adorable accent. The other one, I would also describe as an intelligent and nice guy. He was pretty funny too. I almost get a warm fuzzy feeling thinking of the two Irish Pauls. They definitely made me see the name in a different light.
In general I think it's an underrated name. I like both the look and sound of it and I consider it to be a strong and masculine name that ages well.

Haha, this is my dad's name and the two things my friends notice about him are that he's really smart and that he's socially awkward in a way that sometimes comes across as creepy, poor dad.

But seriously, it's a great solid and very handsome name. Intelligence is one of the vibes I get, and also it's a bit of a jock name to me. All the Paul's I've ever known ran cross-country and track and played some other sport in the winter.

I get a slightly nerdy, geeky image from it. I picture a thin blond guy with a big nose and glasses. In spite of Paul McCartney and Paul Newman. Just goes to show that famous bearers don't always influence the perception of a name, I guess.

Paul is very handsome and simple. I like it. I don't get a creepy vibe at all.

It's funny because I like Paulette, Pauline and Paulina but Paul isn't my favorite ... I would use Saul any time that someone would suggest Paul.

I love Paul, 'cause of Paul O'Grady (aka Lily Savage) who I adore. I just think of him, so I don't really know what vibes I get from it, unless "drag queen" counts...?

I also get the creepy vibe, actually. I also think of an older low middle class man who's English.

It's a stalwart, classically handsome name -- I'm glad I have it.

I like it very much, and my vibes are all Intelligent when they're not Sporty All-Rounder. There should be more Pauls.

I like it as a middle name for Ezra. It's fine by me, really.
