Palomino
The "I was going to be called" thread made me start to think of it. Even though it was a consideration for me, I've never really thought of it as a name...mostly because it isn't a name. But it could be kind of cool. My mom's been obsessed with horses since she can remember, so it would have made sense. Anyways, what do you think of Palomino for a human? Female or male? Are there any crazy names that you would actually consider giving a child of yours?

Here she is...
Because I'm at college in California, she is currently loaned to a riding school here in Maryland, but in a few years when I've graduated and I'm back in MD, I'll be taking her back. Whenever I'm home in MD, I can go and ride her whenever she isn't being used for a lesson, in fact I went for a ride this morning after church.

I see it as totally male. Super cheesey but also to the point of coolness, like rockabilly is. It could never be used here, because the Palomino (or "the Pal") is a country bar known around town as cougar central, so the poor kid would be laughed out of town. Can you imagine brothers Palomino and Cougar!
I love horses too. Let me see, what other horsey names I can think of:
Morgan (heee)
Sorrel
Bay
Perlino
Skewbald
Sabino
Rabicano
Clydesdale
Falabella (although these horses give me the willies)
Banker
Brumby
Fjord
Hackney
Haflinger
Kiger
Oldenburg
Orlov
Chincoteague
I might actually use Banker, and maybe Hackney; those are kind of appealing in a high-falutin' kind of way. Also I'm lovin' Skewbald as a super GP.

Neigh!
Hmm... It seems like more of a male name, but I suppose I could see it on both. Maybe the middle name of a character in an old western or something :P Harris Palomino Johnson or something.
Haha that made me think of Appaloosa "Apple"! I'd never use it, but it's one of those random crazy sort of names.
Not sure if I'd consider anything quite that out-there though...maybe the name of an obscure plant or something.
