Violet

If I actually had to, which means if someone actually pointed a gun at my newborn daughter's head, I'd beg to be allowed to use Viola, pronounced vee-oh-la if possible instead of like the musical instrument.
Which is odd, really. I don't mind flower names on principle, and I greatly enjoy Harriet, Juliet and Margaret ... but Violet seems very dreary. Even the Violet character in the early Peanuts strips never acquired a personality and just faded out.

I love Violet! I think it's beyond beautiful, and it feels spunky but almost melancholy and soft at times. It just has a beauty to it that I love. As for Violetta, I do like it but I don't love it like I do Violet - I actually prefer it spelt Violeta, haha, I think that's really pretty.
I beyond adore the combo Violet Prudence. It's perfect.
For Violet combos...
Violet Annabel
Violet Lenore
Violet Iolanthe
Violet Charity
Violet Pleasance
Violet Ursuline/ Ursula
Violet Henrietta
Violet Bedelia
Violet Jemima
Violet Ottoline
Violet Philippa
Violet Heloise
Violet Hecate
Violet Helene
Violet Georgiana.

I like Violet, but I prefer it, along with all other color names, as a middle name, although I do like Violet Prudence. That's a nice combo.
I prefer Violet.
Here are a few combos I've just thought up.
Violet Ruth
Violet Apollonia
Violet Parthenia
Violet Elspeth
Violet Desdemona

I like Violet. it has grown on me too :)
Violet! You're turning violet, Violet!
Always the first thing that pops into my head. :)
That being said, I like Violet, but I'm not head-over-heels for it. I much prefer Violet to Violetta though.
Violet Prudence is nice, but I feel as though Violet's middle name needs a little frilly girly flair.
Violet Alexandria
Violet Elisabeth
Violet Augustine (Ooo...I like that one)
Violet Genevieve
Violet Abigail
Violet Adelaide
Violet Madgdalena
Violet Calista
Violet Naomi
Violet Annabelle
Violet Oriana
Violet Miranda
Violet Mary Ann
Violet Eleanor
Violet Persephone
Violet Rosalin
Violet Parvati
Violet Padma
Violet Catarina
Like any?

Hehe! I remember liking this name when I was a kid because of the character. I tend to latch on to character names.
I love the flower and the color, but I just don't care for it as a name. There's the obvious "violent" thing and... well, I don't know what else. Violetta doesn't make much of an improvement (surprisingly, since my favorite girls' names end in -etta and -ette). It's not a name I'd be upset to see on a kid, though.

I have also been warming up to Violet recently. I think Violet is simultaneously soft and spunky, so I would probably pair it with something more "grounded." Some ideas are Violet Caroline, Violet Emmeline, Violet Elisabeth, Violet Hazel, Violet Rebecca. I also like Violet Giselle, Violet Aurora, and Violet Matilda.
I don't care for Violet Prudence - I can't stand Prudence. And I much prefer Violet over Violetta.

I vote for Persephone Violet. I picture Persephone bringing spring violets. Such a lovely mental image. And the flow / sounds are terrific.
Persephone Violet is gorgeous
Years ago I was in an elevator. A five foot tall old man was helping his four and a half foot tall wife into it. He said, "This way Violet." Once they were gone another woman in the elevator said, "I'm going to have a girl one day just for the pleasure of naming her Violet." At the time old fashioned names like these weren't in fashion. So it really stuck in my head. I've loved it ever since. That elderly couple in the elevator was just daaaarling.
Violet Prudence? Well, given that Violet is a color using a noun in the combination can be tricky. "Purple prudence" is what I hear. But I definitely get where you're coming from. And I love that you want to use Prudence. She doesn't get the love she deserves.
What would I pair with Violet? Hmmm. How about:
Violet Ginevra (too much "v" sound?)
Violet Imogen
Violet Ailsa
Violet Delphine
Violet Katrina
Violet Isolde
Violet Phoebe
Violet Daphne
Violet Zephyrine (as if I'd ever have the guts)
Violet Mabel
Violet Patricia
Violet Adele
Violet Demelza
Violet Rowena
Violet Rhonwen
