We don't use Ana here because we haven't got a large enough Spanish population and our Portuguese girls seem happy with Anna.
I know more Anna people than I could comfortably shake a stick at, and not a single Ana. Accordingly, Ana never crosses my mind.
I prefer the look of Anna and find Ana looks incomplete. But I find Anna drab and commonplace compared to the steady radiance of Anne.
