Melanthios
I was wondering what people thought of Melanthios, and if people thought one could pull off the nickname Theo...
I really like the name for a character, who is over 1,000 years old, but trying to fit into a modern time (thats why I thought Theo)...

I used the name Melanthios for a character in a sci-fi/fantasy story about a young man's foray into death to save someone he loves. Melanthios stars as a voice inside the man's head, and is eventually revealed to be the mischievous Angel of Balance. He acts as counter to Michael the Archangel and Lucifer the Dark Angel. It was quite a very story to write.
Theo would work as a nickname, though I don't like it much for this name. I enjoy Melanthios in general, however, and Theo certainly fits a more current setting.

It's a big name for a little kid! I'm fond of big, important names, but most of mine are familiar if long-winded (Wilhelmina, etc) where as Melanthios might tire of explaining his name and its history to everyone he meets.
It would make a surprising middle and Theo is fabulous.
