Charlie. I'm not really into Charles at all. If I had used it for a son (didn't because our last name is B.), I would have bitten the bullet and used Charles as his full name. I don't have a problem with giving nicknames as full names, but I probably would not do it myself.
Same deal with Rick and Nick - I'd have used Richard or Nicholas, although I don't like those full names as much.
I like Edith okay, but if I couldn't call her Edie I probably wouldn't use it.
I don't care for Benny much myself, but if I did like it, I'd make the full name Benedict. The meaning of Benedict is cool, and you'd never have to call him anything but Benny. I think the pope is a bigger problem than the eggs =)
