Zelda
What do you think of Zelda? My boyfriend mentioned that he liked this name, and it got me thinking about it. So far I'm pretty neutral. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I think it might be too associated with the Legend of Zelda video games.

I love it! Even if it is too associated with Legend of Zelda, since when has that ever been a bad thing? Heck, I like it more because of that. (random factoid: Princess Zelda was named after Zelda Fitzgerald)

I don't see the association as a bad thing. I just wondered if other people did. :) I'm really glad most people don't think the association is a bad one.

I don't see why the video games would be a bad association at all. Then again, I'm a self-proclaimed video game nerd who called herself Zelda as a kid because I wanted to be the princess in the game! :)Seriously, there are worse associations.

loveit's whimsical, wild and zany. It's so outspoken. I like that it flies in the face of sweet-pretty-for-decoration-only names so many girls get. Zelda is a switchblade knife, she'll glitter in the streetlights and cut you up. And then compose interpretive dance poetry about it. Most of my friends frown on my like of Zelda because of the video game, but whatever. They are stick-in-the-mudses.

I've never actually heard it in a context other than Legend of Zelda (except on this board), so I think it is too associated with the game.

It's such a cool name! Love it!

It's cool. Not one I would use, but it's still nice.

I think it's a really nice name actually. I do think of the video games as well, but that isn't enough to make me not like it.

I like it. It's fun and there's something stylish about it, probably because of Zelda Fitzgerald. And the game will probably be forgotten about by the time Zelda goes to school.

DisagreeI really do love this name but the game will not be forgotten when little Zelda goes to school. This game has been out in many different versions for many years (20?) They are still making remakes. Most recently it is on the Wii. For most people who have played the game, the name has positive images.

I love the name Zelda. I am afraid that it is too associated with the Legend of Zelda. But if more people use the name, it will be less associated with the game. At least, I think.

Oh, I love Zelda! It's both starchy and whimsical, which is a perfect combination for me.

It's like one of my fave names ever. Golden and brilliant and happy. I can't decide whether I like it more by itself or as a nickname for Griselda. I don't care about the video games, I play them, and whatever. My fallback combo is Zelda Thomasina.

I don't really like Griselda, so if I were to use this name it would probably just be Zelda. The only reason I asked about the video game association is to gauge whether or not people don't like Zelda for that reason. So I'm glad to know that the games don't negatively affect your opinion of Zelda. :) Zelda Thomasina is lovely.

I love Zelda for it's old-fashioned quirkiness. It has a soft spot in my heart. :)

Zelda was my nn in college, in the 80's. So I don't associate it with the video game at all. I mentioned it to a co-worker and she said she liked it so much she was going to start to call me Zelda again. So I think it's not just me that likes it. :-)Zelda Marion and Zelda Ruby are my stock combos. I know you didn't ask for any. I just like throwing them at people.

Don't worry. I love combos! Throw as many at me as you want. :)I really like Zelda Marion and Zelda Ruby. I like Marion spelled Marian though.

I'm not a fan. Makes me think of Griselda, which makes me think of grizzlies.... (yeah, my brain is weird, lol).

Haha. It's a diminutive of Griselda, right?

Yup! There's also Grizel, which is even worse:-)
