Re: Sandra
I know a Sandra, in her forties, who is always Sandy. Her mother told me that she wished she'd had the guts to name her Sandy; I replied that if it was me, I'd have named her Alexandra to give her maximum choice, and the conversation ended! The other ones I know are mostly in their 60s, but I did teach quite a few once at a school with a high enrolment of children from southern European backgrounds; there were also lots of Patricias. It was like the Pink Ladies in Grease, I thought, rather than 80s.I wouldn't use it myself; other forms of Alexandra are so much more lively and dynamic.
