Nigella is one name that I love to use in name games, etc. with the nickname Nell. Nigella is so cool, I think, but it's kind of hard for me to approach without a friendlier nickname. I think Nell is just sweet and pleasant and a nice balance for it.

I also like it for Pietronella, although it's almost a little too elaborate for me, and Cornelia. I know it's 'neel' rather than 'nell' but I don't mind the sound change of Cornelia to Nell. Cordelia "Del" is something I like, along those same lines.
