Foxglove
Trying to name a character.
Think I could get away with Foxglove on a boy?Thoughts? Opinions? Nonsensical ramblings?

I don't know why, but it sounds like a slang term for a woman's vagina to me. I don't care for it.

From reading the subject before the post I presumed this would be for a girl.

I see it more as the name of a female kitten or elven trickster...

It would be nice to see a creative name on a boy. Foxglove nn Fox would be cool.

soo sexysomething about the combined powers of fox+glove=megasexy. Foxglove sounds like a brooding, tortured hunk.I like it!

Ah, and thus you see the appeal of the character.
That's what I was going for.

In a realistic story no, unless there's a specific reason why his parents gave him such a weird name. Otherwise, I'd find it distracting and strained.

Ah!I really love the name Foxglove, insane as it might be. While I especially like it on a girl, seeing as it does feel initially feminine to me, I'd also adore seeing it on a boy - and the more I think of it, the more I warm up to it!Foxglove could be really handsome, oddly enough. Fox would be a wicked cool nickname as well. It's an awesome idea for a character. I say go for it!

You could get away with it in a story that was really, really campy. Self-consciously so.
Otherwise, no.
Especially since a foxglove is whimsically named for its flower shape ... it's not a masculine image at all, not to get really literal about it but I assume you'll understand what I mean. And also since it is poisonous, it just sounds more like a stereotypical female villain name than a boy.
Maybe a really, really fey and vampy boy.

What about bad boy ex-boyfriend?
Trying to figure out an edgy, yet not name for a guy who loves himself more than anyone else.
Cool at first, but you get over him quickly kind of guy.

what about...What about something like Fawkes? An even COOLER version of Fox. Or does that make you think of phoenixes? Faulks?

Narcissus? or is that too obvious?

Darius? ... Seth?
(names of some people I've met who fit that description. =)Or a guy who goes by his last name and has a dorky first name - maybe Foxgrove instead?

Oowh, good plan.
