Matilda
Right now Matilda has taken my No. 1 spot for a girl (above Theodora and Alice, even). I wonder how long she will remain there. If I had a daughter right this minute, she would be Matilda Frances. What is your opinion of Matilda?

Matilda Frances is lovely.

I like Matilda! It's the name of one of my cousins and a rather common name in Sweden. I also like Matilde. Tilda and Tilde are popular for girls right now.

It's one of my least favorite names ever. It sounds SO stodgy, frumpy and elderly to me. Seems I'm in the minority here though.

Matilda used to be my number one, too. I suppose I heard it one too many times because all the shine is gone. It's still okay, and it would be great to see on someone else's kid, just not mine. Matilda Frances is pretty.

I like it. Its witchy and my mother would hate it. I love how twig-brown and storybook-tidy it is. Matilda Frances is very nice. Very serious and studious. She's got nothing to prove.

I don't find Matilda to be an especially beautiful name, however, I really like it for other reasons. Its spunkiness, its quirkiness, its style and its strength. Having never known a Matilda, my imagination can run wild with possibilities of what she'd be like. I see her as someone creative, witty and unafraid to go against the grain. As a bonus, there are several cool nn options as well.Matilda Frances is an adorable combo. My personal favorite is Matilda Eve.

I love Matilda. It's in my top 10. Matilda Frances is a gorgeous combo. Very classy.

I really like it actually, especially with the nn Tilly.

I've always liked it for its Norman-French toughness; and when we got a rescue dog her name was Matilda and we kept it. She's a wonderful little pooch, known affectionately as Matt the Mutt. So it doesn't sound totally human to me at present, but it used to. Matilda Frances is lovely.

Quite frankly, I hate it. Quite simply, it's just ugly.

I think Matilda is going to become a lot more popular in the next few years. That said I like it, though I think I prefer Matilde (the Spanish version), and Mafalda has a lot going for it too. I certainly like it more than Theodora and Alice (Matilda and Alice each recall the fictional "original" character quite a bit on their own, more so together.) Matilda Frances is a little stuffy but sweet. I would probably match Matilda with something that's either not English, or not little old lady style. Matilda Noemie, Matilda Niamh, Matilda Parthenope, Matilda Firenze.

WaltzingThat's all I think of. It's alright; it has its whimsical moments, but it also has its old-lady moments (which may or may not be a good thing.) As long as she was Matilda or Mattie or Mat or anything other than Tilda I'd be fine with it.

Matilda's nice; I strongly prefer Clothilde / Clotilda and Mathilde, though.

I like it a lot because of the Roald Dahl book. It's cute.

I'm a big fan of Matilda and Matilda Frances is a great combo.

I don't like it. In my accent the first syllable is MUTT, and my image of it is musty and pious. I see why people think it's nice, but I feel that it has a trendy kind of appeal, and that on a grown woman it may always sound stern and plain.

Old fashioned but in a cool, ahead of the crowd kind of way. It has a cute feel and great nickname possibilities.

I have heavy synesthetic objections to it, which is annoying, because there's nothing really wrong with it. It just makes me want to throw up. Matilduh, le puke. It's this awful shade of darkish red but like mixed with purgatory-mud-gray, I don't even know, I can't even deal with Tilly.I think I figured it out. ill in the middle of names tends to really gross me out, and I hate Mat/Mad. Ms are really potent letters, like R, and I can either despise them or love them. Here is despise.

That is rather funny. Your aversion to "ill" in Matilda almost mocks my aversion to "nerv" in Minerva. :)

Our daughters can hang out.

I like Matilda quite a lot. Matilda Frances however, is a little boring. Very classy, but yet boring. I think Matilda would need a little more "funny" or "spunky" middle name.

Matilda has grown on me too! I actually named my new car this. Lol
I think it's a beautiful name and isn't as popular as the similar Maddison. It has really cute nicnames too, like Maddy, or Tilly.
I really dislike the middle name Frances though. It soulds butch to me. But as a middle name, i don't think it's a biggie.

I absolutely adore it.

I love Matilda! Frances is not one of my favorites but I think Matilda Frances is cute.

I love it! It always reminds me of Roald Dahl's book, which I love. I just wish it wasn't as popular here.

I know sisters named Matilda and Frances. There are four girls in the family- Veronica, Frances, Matilda and Annabel,I love Matilda but it is quite popular in Australia. It has some great nn options and its strong and sturdy.
